Job Overview

A South African firm providing operational support, technology platforms, and BPO to insurers, brokers, automotive manufacturers, and fleet managers seeks a Cloud Infrastructure Engineer to keep Microsoft Azure and Microsoft 365 platforms secure, optimised, and highly available.

You will act as a Tier 3 escalation SME: major-incident leadership, secure cloud design for global projects, identity hardening, and SRE-style monitoring. The environment is large and matrixed, with financial-services / insurance context preferred.

Ideal for an Azure/Hybrid engineer with IaC, PowerShell automation, Entra ID, and ITIL process maturity who can translate technical risk for non-technical stakeholders.

Key Responsibilities

• Manage day-to-day Azure/M365 platform health; serve as Tier 3 escalation for the Global Service Desk

• Lead major incident responses, root-cause analysis, and durable fixes

• Design and deploy secure, scalable cloud infrastructure for global projects as SME

• Enforce security hardening (CIS baselines), identity controls (PIM/RBAC), and vulnerability remediation

• Apply SRE principles with Azure Monitor / Log Analytics for availability and capacity planning

• Oversee automated patching, certificate lifecycles, and Azure Update Manager processes

• Administer M365 / Exchange Online, Entra ID (Conditional Access/MFA), and Microsoft Purview (DLP, eDiscovery)

• Drive Infrastructure as Code (Terraform, Bicep, ARM) and PowerShell/Azure Automation Runbooks

• Govern Power Platform DLP/environments and cloud cost optimisation

• Support networking constructs: VNets, NSGs, Firewalls, Private Endpoints, routing

Required Qualifications

• National Diploma in IT (NQF Level 6) or equivalent; Microsoft Azure/M365 certifications

• Preferred: Azure Administrator Associate (AZ-104)

• 5+ years in IT, preferably Financial Services or Insurance

• 3+ years hands-on Azure / Hybrid Cloud engineering

• Proven ITIL experience (Change, Incident, Problem, Request)

• Experience in large matrixed / distributed global teams

• Ability to explain complex technical concepts to non-technical stakeholders
