Job Overview
Act as technical owner of a set of applications within a large systems environment. Manage relationships with business product owners, lead a team of IT specialists through the SDLC, manage projects across teams, and keep applications adaptive to emerging client needs.
Key Responsibilities
- Align delivery to business requirements and build trust with internal clients.
- Understand business systems, process context, impact and risks; participate in client forums, MANCO, EXCO and planning sessions.
- Own SDLC activities: prioritisation, scheduling, build, test, deliver, fix and change requests.
- Capacity management: delegate tasks, review execution and coach team members.
- Ensure technical application capacity exists and produce capacity plans.
- Adhere to quality, standards, SLAs, PM and SDLC standards; recommend process improvements.
- Act as project manager for selected projects and drive production issues to resolution.
- Lead human capital management: skills development, coaching, recruitment, performance management and conflict management.
- Contribute to systems strategy and technical direction.
Required Qualifications
- Matric.
- BSc in Computer Science / Information Systems or equivalent IT tertiary qualification.
- Management development courses advantageous.
- Knowledge of ITIL (Incident, Change, Release, Problem Management).
- SDLC experience; Agile methodology advantageous.
- Minimum 8-10 years systems development experience.
- Minimum 3-5 years managing a software development team for large commercial entities, or demonstrated leadership capability.
- Exposure driving key strategic initiatives in a business unit.
- Strong delivery focus, stakeholder management and problem-solving skills.
