Job Overview

Joubert & Associates is recruiting an entrepreneurial General Manager in Cape Town (Careers24 2387838; apply before 16 October 2026; ref e73f08fd-caca-463f-ac54-5579d73060ed) for an established South African horticultural and agricultural bioscience company specialising in development, manufacture and international commercialisation of plant propagation and growth technologies.

With an expanding local and international footprint, the company seeks a GM to lead the next phase of growth and professionalisation, reporting directly to the Managing Director, with significant scope for increased executive responsibility. The role spans PBR International team leadership, strategic growth execution, manufacturing/supply-chain optimisation, budgets and financial performance, quality/compliance, and building management capability and performance culture.

Key Responsibilities

• Effectively manage the PBR International team

• Drive implementation and execution of the company’s strategic growth initiatives

• Work with the Managing Director to translate strategy into measurable plans, priorities and outcomes

• Oversee and coordinate key business projects and ensure effective execution across the organisation

• Develop and implement systems and processes to enhance efficiency

• Manage and optimise manufacturing, supply chain and operational processes

• Take responsibility for budgets, financial performance, cash flow and cost management

• Analyse financial and operational information to drive sound business decisions

• Contribute to commercial decision-making and identification of new growth opportunities

• Ensure appropriate quality and compliance standards are maintained

• Provide regular strategic and financial feedback to the Managing Director

• Develop management capability, accountability and performance culture

Required Qualifications

• Relevant postgraduate qualification beneficial

• Proven experience in Agriculture, Horticulture or Agricultural Chemicals

• Experience managing a team

• Strong commercial and financial acumen

• Demonstrated ownership, independent decision-making and accountability

• Strong project management and execution capability

• Strategic thinker with hands-on, practical management style

• Confident engagement with senior leadership; receptive to feedback

• High entrepreneurial aptitude; self-starter and results-driven

• Excellent interpersonal skills; proficient in English and Afrikaans

• Willingness to travel in South Africa and internationally; valid driver’s licence
