Job Overview

Talent Evolution is recruiting a National Facilities Manager, based in Bellville, Cape Town, for a multi-site retail property portfolio. The role provides strategic leadership, specialist technical expertise and governance across Facilities Management, Operational Services and Building Services nationally.

You will develop and implement national facilities and asset-lifecycle strategies, set operational standards, policies and SLAs, and support centre and property management teams — driving consistency, sustainability, service excellence and efficiency. The mandate covers CAPEX and maintenance budgets, multi-site procurement and contractor management, utilities and energy (including wheeling and Renewable Energy Certificates), compliance and risk.

Requires a mechanical or electrical engineering degree and 8–10 years in facilities, engineering or operations management, with proven experience running a multi-site or national property portfolio and leading geographically dispersed teams.

Key Responsibilities

  • Develop and implement national Facilities Management and asset-lifecycle strategies

  • Set and govern operational standards, policies, procedures and SLAs across the portfolio

  • Develop technical specifications and scopes for CAPEX, maintenance and operational projects; oversee major projects

  • Lead facilities procurement: specifications, tender methodology, adjudication, vendor selection and contract award

  • Manage service contracts and contractor performance, including disputes and penalties

  • Oversee CAPEX, abnormal and day-to-day maintenance and operational budgets

  • Lead utility management, recovery-ratio improvement, energy efficiency, carbon reporting and renewable-energy initiatives (wheeling, RECs)

  • Ensure statutory, regulatory and OHS compliance; conduct compliance audits and manage technical risk

  • Lead and develop dispersed Facilities and Building Services teams and drive succession planning

Required Qualifications

  • Degree in Mechanical or Electrical Engineering (BSc, BEng or BTech)

  • 8–10 years' experience in Facilities Management, Engineering or Operations Management

  • Demonstrable experience managing a multi-site or national property portfolio

  • Strong technical knowledge of building services, maintenance and lifecycle management

  • Proven budget, CAPEX, procurement, contract and SLA management experience

  • Experience in sustainability, energy efficiency, utility management, carbon reporting and renewable-energy arrangements

  • Strong understanding of statutory, regulatory and OHS requirements; strong leadership and stakeholder skills
