Senior Java Developer – Retail POS
Job Overview
Goldman Tech Resourcing's client in Cape Town is seeking a Senior Java Developer to take a leading role developing enterprise-grade Point of Sale (POS) solutions.
The role spans complex retail technology, integrations and high-performance systems: SAP Retail integration, SOAP/REST/iDocs, Java Swing and HTML5 interfaces, POS hardware, and reporting with JasperReports and iText — while contributing to technical direction.
You will mentor and lead developers and drive the full SDLC from requirements to deployment and support.
Key Responsibilities
• Develop scalable high-performance Java POS solutions
• Lead development and integration of SAP Retail solutions
• Integrate third-party systems via SOAP, REST and iDocs
• Build UIs with Java Swing, HTML5 and CSS
• Integrate POS hardware such as card terminals and printers
• Produce technical documentation, UML and SDK guidelines
• Mentor developers and conduct code reviews
• Resolve production performance bottlenecks
Required Qualifications
• Strong commercial Java development experience on enterprise-scale software
• Experience with REST and SOAP integrations
• Java Swing, HTML5 and CSS experience
• SAP Retail and JasperReports/iText advantageous
• Proven ability to mentor or lead developers
