Job Overview
The Special Investigating Unit (SIU) — South Africa’s anti-corruption investigating unit focused on fighting corruption and recovering financial losses suffered by the State — is appointing a Senior Manager: Infrastructure Management in Pretoria (CareerJunction 2646476; closing 7 November 2026). The role leads, modernises, maintains and continuously matures the SIU’s ICT infrastructure capabilities across on-premises, hosted and cloud environments.
The Senior Manager ensures secure, resilient, scalable and efficient operation of the full ICT operational environment — data centre, server platforms, LAN/WAN/Wi-Fi networks, storage, backup, disaster recovery, cloud platforms, unified communications and AI infrastructure — while driving infrastructure strategy and policy, hardware lifecycle, risk, budget, staff and stakeholder management in a public-sector context. Candidates are subject to SIU screening, vetting and lifestyle-audit procedures.
Key Responsibilities
Drive infrastructure strategies and policies aligned to the SIU’s technology needs
Lead and modernise data centre, server, network, storage, backup and disaster-recovery capabilities
Oversee cloud platforms, unified communications and AI infrastructure
Manage acquisition, provisioning and retirement of infrastructure hardware
Lead IT operational management, planning and implementation
Identify and manage infrastructure risks
Manage the infrastructure budget within public-sector budgeting processes
Manage staff and stakeholders
Required Qualifications
BSc (Computer Science) or BCom (Information Systems) Honours or equivalent (NQF 8)
MCSE, Cisco, PMBOK or PRINCE2, and ITIL qualifications advantageous
6–8 years’ experience in the IT environment, including 4 years’ management experience
Understanding of public-sector budgeting and best-practice ICT procurement
Knowledge of client-server, cloud services, security and disaster recovery
Must pass SIU integrity screening, vetting and lifestyle audit
