Senior Research & Development Manager
Job Overview
Conceptualise and drive existing and new R&D projects in support of short-term insurance business strategy. Play a leading role in bringing new products and enhancements to market on a regular basis.
Key Responsibilities
Drive exploratory research and analyses to develop strategic insights and identify core R&D questions, ideas and solutions. Develop product strategy and R&D priorities aligned to group and insure strategy. Apply analytical and pricing capabilities to understand financial implications of new products and ensure profitable results. Lead complex cross-business R&D projects and drive collaboration for buy-in and smooth handover. Present regular updates to executive forums including R&D Steerco, Insure Exco and Actuarial Committee. Drive project execution with project managers, systems and partner teams. Take accountability and sign-off on product launch items. Continuously refine the R&D process for maximum business impact and timely implementation. Build, manage and train a small supporting team. Monitor and report ongoing results to ensure products produce optimal outcomes.
Required Qualifications
Honours or Master's degree in an analytical field such as Computer Science, Statistics, Data Science or Actuarial Science. 5-10 years' experience in financial services, preferably in product development, problem-solving or analytical roles (management consulting, actuarial or data science). Analytical and modelling skills including SQL; design thinking and innovation process experience.
