Strategic Supply Chain Manager
Job Overview
Amazon's South Africa Retail business is looking for a leader in Cape Town to drive process improvements and thought leadership in inventory planning and operations. The Strategic Supply Chain Manager leads inventory management strategies to maximise customer experience, sales, margin and turns, with end-to-end ownership of supply chain processes from manufacturer to consumer.
The role uses data to influence others and to build scalable systems and processes rather than fixing single issues, ensuring the right product quantities are in the right places at the right time. Supply Chain Managers continuously optimise the end-to-end chain by engaging vendors to improve operational metrics and by driving system and process automation with internal teams, and they contribute supply chain insights to business reviews for senior leadership.
Amazon is seeking someone highly organised with strong data extraction and analytical capability, who can self-manage competing strategic and tactical priorities, communicate crisply in writing and verbally, and lead and influence internal and external teams in an ambiguous environment while staying customer-centric. Posted 9 October 2026.
Key Responsibilities
• Identify and deliver operational improvement opportunities in buying and demand planning
• Monitor and improve key supply chain metrics: out-of-stock rate, overstock rate, total inbound lead time, delivery speed and confirmation/fill rates

• Optimise supply chain cost structure and profitability through vendor engagement and project management
• Collaborate with partner teams on system improvements and process automation
• Own end-to-end supply chain processes from manufacturer to consumer for the SA Retail business
