Head of Quality Engineering – Online Gaming

Own the test automation strategy and pyramid across Java, .NET, React and Flutter – unit, contract, API, integration, UI and mobile

Design, build and maintain shared automation frameworks, libraries and test-data tooling; write production-quality framework code

Define automated-coverage ‘done’ criteria and enforce them through PR review and CI quality gates

Own performance, load, stress, soak and resilience testing; establish baselines and SLOs and diagnose bottlenecks to code/query/infra level

Cover SAST/DAST, dependency scanning and accessibility testing at pipeline level with Security and UX

Set and publish Quality Engineering standards and run quality reviews of squad delivery

Own quality metrics – escaped defects, change failure rate, coverage, automation health – and lead RCA of released defects

Coach engineers, lead embedded quality engineers and give go/no-go release recommendations

Own the quality tooling estate and licence cost; adopt AI-assisted testing with guardrails

Bachelor’s degree (NQF 7+) in Computer Science, Software Engineering, Information Systems, Electrical/Electronic Engineering or related; Honours/Master’s advantageous

Recognised Test or Performance Engineering certification (e.g. ISTQB Advanced Test Automation Engineer / Technical Test Analyst)

10+ years in software or quality engineering incl. 5+ years building automation frameworks and 3+ years leading performance/load testing at production scale

3+ years leading quality engineering technically across multiple teams (Head, Lead or Principal level)

Production software development in Java, C#/.NET or TypeScript; CI/CD quality-gate and test-data experience

Mobile test automation (Flutter, native or React Native) strongly preferred; cloud (AWS/Azure) and Kubernetes/GitHub Actions/Terraform certifications advantageous
