Job Overview

MSP Staffing is recruiting a registered Pr Eng Civil Engineer – Bulk Water and Sewer in Johannesburg for a consulting engineering firm (Careers24 2395559; permanent; advertised at R83,333–R100,000 per month; apply before 24 December 2026). The engineer takes technical ownership of water-sector infrastructure projects – water and wastewater treatment facilities, bulk water systems, stormwater infrastructure and sewer networks – working with clients and multidisciplinary teams on projects throughout Africa.

The role leads planning and design from feasibility through implementation, prepares and reviews calculations, design models, drawings, specifications and reports, coordinates inputs from other disciplines, and ensures solutions meet standards, legislation and quality expectations. It also supports project management and contract administration, champions digital engineering tools (Revit, Civil 3D, Navisworks) to improve design efficiency, and mentors engineers within a collaborative technical team.

Key Responsibilities

• Lead planning and design of water infrastructure projects from feasibility through implementation

• Develop and review engineering solutions for water and wastewater treatment, bulk water, stormwater and sewer networks

• Prepare and oversee technical calculations, design models, drawings, specifications and reports

• Manage engineering deliverables and coordinate inputs from relevant technical disciplines

• Work with clients, contractors, suppliers and partners to achieve project objectives

• Ensure designs meet applicable standards, legislation and quality expectations

• Improve design efficiency through digital engineering tools and technologies

• Monitor technical risks and resolve engineering challenges across the project lifecycle

• Support project management, contract administration and implementation; mentor engineers

Required Qualifications

• BEng or BSc Eng in Civil Engineering

• Current ECSA Professional Engineer (Pr Eng) registration

• 10–15 years’ civil engineering experience with specific water and wastewater treatment infrastructure and process design expertise

• Track record managing multidisciplinary water engineering projects

• Competence in Revit, Civil 3D, Navisworks and relevant analysis tools

• Sound knowledge of water-sector legislation and standards; valid Code B licence and willingness to travel

• Advantageous: bulk pipelines, stormwater or water-resources projects, contract management, desalination or effluent reuse
