Senior Android Mobile Engineer (DevOps) – POS & Payments
Job Overview
MSP Staffing is recruiting a Senior Android Mobile Engineer (DevOps) in Johannesburg for a fintech and payments client (permanent; reference SENAND-DEVOPS-1026; posted 30 October 2026; apply before 29 December 2026; advertised R83,333 per month). The role designs, develops, maintains and optimises Android applications deployed on custom Android devices for Point of Sale and payment solutions.
The engineer builds scalable, high-performing Kotlin/Java applications, contributes to technical architecture, supports Azure DevOps CI/CD pipelines and automated testing, works across Product, QA, Engineering and Operations, provides technical leadership and code reviews, mentors developers, and supports production deployments and incident resolution.
Key Responsibilities
• Design, develop and maintain scalable Android applications for custom POS and payment devices
• Contribute to technical architecture, design reviews and code reviews
• Integrate APIs and backend services; implement offline data storage and synchronisation
• Support CI/CD pipelines, release management and deployments in Azure DevOps
• Implement automated testing with Espresso and JUnit; monitor with Firebase Crashlytics
• Optimise application performance and resolve defects, integration issues and production incidents
• Mentor developers and promote engineering best practice
Required Qualifications
• 7+ years’ Android application development experience
• Expert Kotlin and advanced Java; expert Android SDK, architecture and design patterns
• Experience developing for custom Android devices (Sunmi/Urovo advantageous)
• DevOps, CI/CD, Azure DevOps/Pipelines and Git experience
• Jetpack Compose, Material 3, Retrofit, Dagger Hilt, Coroutines, WorkManager; ObjectBox and MS SQL Server knowledge
• Agile environment experience; fintech/payments exposure
