Job Summary To provide specialist legal advice and support in respect of day-to-day legal queries and complex legal matters to the Absa Group and its stakeholders, with a focus on transactional and commercial legal work, ensuring legal risk is appropriately identified, managed and mitigated.
Key Responsibilities
Key Accountabilities Provide specialist legal advice on commercial and transactional matters. Draft, review and negotiate a wide range of commercial agreements. Support business units on legal risk identification and mitigation. Manage litigation and disputes with external counsel where required. Contribute to legal policies, frameworks and training. Partner with stakeholders across the bank to enable commercial outcomes within risk appetite. Keep abreast of relevant legislation and regulatory developments.
Required Qualifications
Admitted attorney with strong commercial legal experience in banking or corporate practice. Proven contract drafting and negotiation skills. Ability to manage complex multi-stakeholder matters. Strong communication and judgement.
