Job Overview

Nedbank is appointing an Associate Principal: Export Credit & Insurance Solutions in Johannesburg (requisition 148511; Investment Banking job family; Specialised Finance career stream; posted 3 November 2026). The role implements export-credit finance lending transactions across the continent, maximising sustainable revenue through profitable and innovative specialised debt-financing transactions.

The Associate Principal leads transactions to close – deal assessment, pricing scenarios, structuring, legal documentation, credit applications and credit-committee presentation – with a focus on export credit agency (ECA)-backed and multilateral DFI-supported deals in sub-Saharan Africa, while monitoring credit exposure and building client and internal stakeholder relationships.

Key Responsibilities

Lead export-credit and insurance-backed transactions to close – deal assessment, pricing scenarios, structuring and legal negotiation
Prepare credit applications and present to credit committee; ensure timeous credit reviews
Prioritise ECA-backed and multilateral DFI-supported deals, with a focus on sub-Saharan Africa
Assist Principals on transactions, including scoping financial models and compliance execution
Monitor and assess credit exposure in light of client performance and market conditions
Build and maintain client and cross-cluster stakeholder relationships; grow market share
Allocate revenue streams appropriately with Finance; delegate and review associates’ work

Required Qualifications

Advanced diploma or first degree (NQF 7); CA(SA), CFA or a Master’s degree in Sciences or Law preferred
6–8 years’ relevant sector experience in specialised / structured or export-credit finance
Strong principles of financial management, project management and relevant regulatory knowledge
Deal structuring, financial modelling and credit-application expertise
Competencies: building partnerships, collaborating, customer focus, initiating action, work standards
