Job Overview

Discovery Bank is appointing a Collections Operations Manager at 1 Discovery Place, Sandton (Banking function; posted 3 November 2026). The role ensures the bank’s collections functions run efficiently and effectively on a 24/7/365 basis, and helps design and continuously improve current and future business processes, operating rules, policies and roles.

The manager tracks performance metrics, analyses bottlenecks and implements credit and collections solutions to lift performance – managing delinquent accounts, collections and recovery actions, external collections agencies, escalated client queries and the risk register – with a hands-on approach that includes front-line work.

Key Responsibilities

Manage the bank’s risk-operations and collections processes on a 24/7/365 basis
Identify and manage delinquent accounts; execute collections and recovery strategies aligned to bank strategy
Run the client credit portfolio efficiently while delivering strong customer satisfaction
Analyse portfolio data to identify credit-risk trends and provide strategic input into the credit model
Oversee client dispute handling and re-assessment of credit scoring within policy
Manage and monitor external collections agencies against SLAs
Maintain a detailed risk register and mitigation plan for credit ops, collections and recoveries
Lead and up-skill the team; develop policies, procedures and standards aligned to the regulatory framework

Required Qualifications

Bachelor’s degree in finance, accounting, economics, law or business management (Honours / NQF 9 such as MBA, MBL, MCom preferred)
FAIS accreditation
At least 4–6 years’ experience in debt management services, with people-management experience
At least 2 years in financial planning at a senior level
Preferred: 4–6 years in credit operations, collections and operational risk in retail banking / financial services, and process design and optimisation
