Job Overview

MSP Staffing is recruiting a highly experienced Senior Azure Data Engineer / Data Engineering & BI Specialist for a client in Faerie Glen, Pretoria (permanent senior position; hybrid – two days per week in office, three remote; posted 4 November 2026). The role drives the development and optimisation of enterprise-scale cloud data solutions.

The engineer builds and tunes ETL/ELT pipelines on Azure Data Factory, Synapse, Data Lake Gen2, Azure SQL and Microsoft Fabric, designs dimensional and Data Vault models, delivers Power BI solutions, and guides junior team members – ideally with financial-services, insurance or banking experience.

Key Responsibilities

Design, develop and optimise ETL/ELT pipelines using Azure Data Factory, SSIS and SQL
Build enterprise data solutions on Azure Synapse, Data Lake Gen2, Azure SQL and Microsoft Fabric
Develop data-warehouse models – Star Schema, Kimball, Data Vault and SCD Type 2
Deliver Power BI dashboards and models (DAX, Power Query) and administer Power BI Service
Advanced T-SQL development, performance tuning and stored procedures
Lead enterprise data migrations and complex integrations; apply data-quality and governance practices
Own technical deliverables and guide junior team members

Required Qualifications

Strong hands-on experience with Azure Data Factory, Synapse, Data Lake Gen2, Azure SQL and Microsoft Fabric
Advanced SQL Server / T-SQL and proven ETL/ELT optimisation experience
Strong data-warehousing and dimensional-modelling knowledge
Practical Power BI, DAX and Power Query experience
Python, Azure DevOps, Git and CI/CD experience
Financial services, insurance, banking or regulated-environment experience advantageous
