Job Overview

Hire Resolve is recruiting a Senior Cost Controller for a client in the mining sector, based in Johannesburg (permanent; reference 208058; posted 3 November 2026; apply before 4 December 2026). The role strengthens capital-project governance across a multi-project portfolio, owning cost reporting, reconciliations and forecasting so that leadership has an accurate, timely view of committed, incurred and forecast spend.

The Senior Cost Controller sets up projects for cost control, manages budgets and forecasts across the capital programme, reconciles capital accounting, and leads a small cost-control team – working closely with project managers, engineering, procurement and finance. Key Responsibilities

Own capital-project cost control across a multi-project / portfolio environment
Set up new projects in cost systems – cost breakdown structures, control budgets and coding
Prepare budgets, cost-to-complete forecasts and monthly cost reports for project and executive stakeholders
Reconcile capital accounting – commitments, accruals, actuals and capitalisation – with Finance
Track variances, earned value and change control; flag cost risks and recommend corrective actions
Strengthen capital-project governance, reporting standards and controls
Supervise and develop cost controllers and project-controls staff

Required Qualifications

Matric plus a relevant Bachelor’s degree in Cost & Management Accounting, Finance, Accounting, Quantity Surveying, Engineering, Construction Management, Project Management or related discipline
Essential certification in project controls, cost engineering, management accounting or project management – AACE, CIMA, ACCA, PMP or equivalent
Minimum 8 years’ capital-project cost-control experience in a multi-project or portfolio environment
At least 3 years in a senior or supervisory capacity
Experience in project set-up, budgeting, forecasting and capital-accounting reconciliation
