Recruitpro Solutions is recruiting a Senior Electrical Engineer (Pr Eng) for a well-established engineering firm specialising in electrical design and industrial automation solutions, based in Pretoria East (permanent; reference Rec000339/DL; posted 2 November 2026; apply before 1 December 2026). The engineer leads the firm’s electrical engineering department in a role that is both managerial and technical.

The role plans, directs and coordinates professional electrical designs to meet client-specific requirements in compliance with SANS standards and the Mines Health and Safety Act – reviewing and signing off MV/LV designs, preparing specifications, BoQs and tender documentation, managing commissioning, auditing sites and developing the design team – with travel to project sites across South Africa, Africa and internationally.

Key Responsibilities

• Manage and control the electrical engineering department and all associated activities

• Ensure projects adhere to quality systems and safety standards, meet deadlines and remain profitable

• Review and sign off detailed electrical designs against applicable standards and scope of works

• Complete and review detailed medium-voltage and low-voltage electrical designs

• Prepare scopes of work, specifications, bills of quantities and tender documentation

• Compile data packs for manufacturing and software engineering phases; prepare and manage commissioning procedures

• Conduct site audits and compile compliance reports; liaise with clients on design specifications

• Mentor and develop draughtspeople and engineers; report project risks and gaps

Required Qualifications

• BEng in Electrical Engineering

• Professional Engineer (Pr Eng) registration – Electrical

• 10+ years’ operational and design experience including relevant design software

• Strong knowledge of SANS standards and the Mine Health and Safety Act; MCC design (SANS) knowledge

• Industrial plant and mining design experience

• Basic PLC and SCADA knowledge; willingness to travel to project sites locally and internationally
