Job Overview

MSP Staffing is recruiting a Senior Renewable Energy Engineer to join a growing technical advisory team in Cape Town (permanent senior position; posted 4 November 2026). The role suits an engineering professional with extensive renewable-energy experience and a strong technical background in utility-scale wind, solar, hydro and battery energy storage (BESS) projects.

The engineer delivers owner’s engineering, lender’s technical advisory and independent engineering assignments – feasibility studies, technical due diligence, design reviews, contract and grid-connection reviews, site inspections and construction monitoring – while contributing to tenders, client engagement and business development, with local and international travel.

Key Responsibilities

Deliver technical advisory services for utility-scale wind, solar and BESS projects
Conduct feasibility studies, technical due diligence and engineering design reviews
Support owner’s engineering, lender’s technical advisory and independent engineering assignments
Review technical reports, contracts, grid connection agreements and turbine supply agreements
Undertake civil, electrical, structural, foundation and environmental assessments as required
Prepare detailed technical reports, calculations, presentations and project documentation
Participate in site inspections, construction monitoring and supervision
Contribute to tender preparation, client engagement and business development

Required Qualifications

Bachelor’s, Master’s or PhD in Civil, Mechanical, Electrical, Chemical or Environmental Engineering
10+ years’ relevant engineering experience with strong knowledge of utility-scale renewable energy projects
Understanding of civil or electrical engineering regulations, codes and standards
Excellent technical report-writing, presentation and English communication skills; proficient in MS Office
Willingness to travel locally and internationally; professional registration (Pr Eng) advantageous
Desirable: renewable-energy consulting in Africa, construction supervision, facility design and root-cause analysis
